How to Grow Bean Sprouts (Mung Sprouts) at Home

What if you save yourself from buying bean sprouts from the supermarket and grow your own at home? It is easy, and it doesn’t require too much process. You’ll have your sprouts in just 2-4 days.

Here’s how:

Wash the monggo beans thoroughly with water.

Place it in a container and soak it overnight.

After soaking them overnight, the bean will become a little bit bigger and somewhat starting to peel off. But that’s fine. Rinse them gently with water.

In a rectangular colander, place a paper towel.

Carefully place the soaked beans. Spread it all over to maximize the space.

Cover it with cloth. Sprinkle a good amount of water at the top. And store it in a cool, a bit of a dark place in the kitchen.

Make sure to sprinkle some water on top at least twice a day.

After 2-3 days, it would start to grow.

It should be ready after 3 days. Depending on what you want. On this one, I harvested it after 4 days. So you’ll see it’s a little bit longer and little leaves are starting to sprout.

I prepared about a half cup of beans and I was able to make around two microwavable containers. You can keep them in a fridge if you want them to last longer. You can make tons of healthy recipes with bean sprouts.

Try yours now! And tell me how it goes. 🙂

  • Nice one. I actually used to help my mom process monggo beans when I was younger. Now, I think I'll try doing it by myself.
